I'll remember you.

You were a gift life gave to me And I want you to know that no matter where I go I'll remember you, I'll remember you.

The Story Behind the Song
This song seems to be a favorite for a lot of people. It was intended to be the finale song for my STORYBOOK COLLECTION album and has the same arrangement, as my song "STORYBOOK" in fact, I call it -- "I'll Remember You" (The closing of the Storybook)

I wrote it in 1994, one day before I was headed off to my job at the time (I was a physical trainer) -- I got the idea to end my album with a song similar to the one that began it. So I 30 minutes before I was supposed to be at work, I sat down at my piano with my car keys sitting in my lap and wrote the song in about 15 minutes.

When I finally finished recording my song, "Storybook" in 1999, I asked my engineer, Ken to give me some time extra time in the studio between mixings of Storybook. I told him I wanted to record a little piano/vocal ditty called, "I'll Remember You." It took no more than 40 minutes or so and was a very enjoyable and relaxing process. Most do not know this but, I try NOT to play piano on many of my own songs, reason being, I usually like other's arrangements better than my own. But recording this song was a real pleasure. Actually, it has inspired me to do an album with just some of my more simple songs, with just me and piano.

Funny how all these years I have gotten so used to BIG production in my songs. I forget like most recording artists, that a song is a good song when it can stand on it's own or with very little production behind it. I guess I just love big production, cause I love a big sound. But, I have to admit, with the crazy world we live in, sometimes it is nice to be able to fall back on the more simple things in life. Wouldn't you agree?
