Nicolas is a 30 year-old singer songwriter based in Montreal, Quebec. He grew up surrounded with classical music and started discovering his love for this art as soon as his mouth could produce an organized sound. At 5 mom pushed him to take up violin lessons. He was more attracted by the teacher's hair than the instrument, so by age 7 he moved on to piano and started theory classes.   Classical was not his thing though. This truth hit him like lightning when he was introduced to pop music at age 14. For fours years he would discover the sound of modern recording techniques and dabble in sound editing with two tapes and some cheap stuff from Radio Shack. At 16 it's back to piano lessons with a pop music teacher were the beauty of chords swept him off his feet and sent him in a lifetime of exploration.   Early 20s were spent learning studio equipment, photography, endless writing and finally taking voice lessons to master what must be the hardest instrument, the voice. On the side, he became a radio mc, a filmwriter and a sound editor for both tv and film. At 24, he stepped on stage for a short series of small shows and quite enjoyed himself. His first demo was released 3 years later, a collection of odd songs called "different" and relating the experience of growing up a gay male and defining life as an outcast. Success was not to be for this hastily put together recording.   The following year, Nicolas takes 3 months off and records "romantiquement douteux" a new set of tunes questioning the importance of love in a balanced life. This time around the cd was a lot more successfull than anticipated. Three tracks made it to #1 in their respective genres on mp3.com and won airplay on radios, fan mail started pouring in as well as offers to write music for established artists.   Nicolas is presently writing with a publisher and planning the recording of his next collection of songs.
